Arkansas River Rafting – Browns Canyon National Monument
Glenwood Adventure Company provides wonderful river adventures on the Arkansas River through its sister company Lakota Guides. Our Browns Canyon river base is located on the corner of Highway 82 and Highway 24. This is in Historic Balltown and Twin Lakes. The journey to our location from Aspen and the Roaring Fork Valley is spectacular. The drive has the ability to overshadow the actual Arkansas River rafting adventure.
Browns Canyon is located on the Eastern side of Independence Pass. It’s approximately 1 hour from Aspen and includes 11,836 acres of the San Isabel National Forest. Browns Canyon was designated a National Monument in 2015. The 21,586 acres of pristine forests, canyons, and rivers is home to Colorado’s premier destination for white water rafting.
Browns Canyon is located between the communities of Buena Vista and Salida in Chaffee County, Colorado. The canyon’s elevation ranges from 7,300 feet to 10,000 feet. The canyon offers a backdrop of stunning views of the Arkansas Valley and the Sawatch Range of the Rocky Mountains. The Sawatch Range is home to the famous Collegiate Peaks.
