Gone Fishin’

Though we didn’t have particularly high water this year, normally it’s best to give the river a month or so after the run-off to clear up for some first-class Colorado fishing!

Glenwood Adventure has some pretty amazing trips – and one heck of a guide – if you’re looking to get your pole in the water. Ryan Davis with Emerald Water Anglers is a very accomplished oarsman and one of our float guides who spends most of June chasing the salmonfly hatch around the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. His knowledge of hatches and float fishing tactics has grown to be of equal stature as his rowing capabilities, and he is a great host for a day of floating down our local rivers.

Withe Emerald Water Anglers, Glenwood Adventure offers a one of a kind trip in the area. Although most commercial fly-fishing trips are experienced during “business hours,” an evening fish can be even more productive with less time commitment.  This is a 2 ½ hour trip from 5:30-8:00 pm and can be experienced by boat or walk and wade. This is a great way to test out the Colorado waters during the ‘magic’ time of day.

We also have a couple other trips if you really want to sink your teeth into angling. Our full-day float will take you down both the Roaring Fork and Colorado Rivers. Have a hand at reeling in a ‘Colorado Grand Slam’ Brown by catching a Cutthroat, Rainbow and Brook trout. If you’re looking to try something new, Ryan leads a great trip teaching folks how to fly fish. It might sound intimidating at first, but you’ll look like you were born to fish by the end of the trip (or at least feel like it!)
